About Me
My name is Hayley. I’m an illustrator based in St. Paul, Minnesota. My home boasts a unique blend of textures throughout the city: red brick, rusty iron, concrete bridges and graffiti splashed on train cars, woven together by Minnesota's rivers, parks, and abundance of trees. All of which is a backdrop to an enriching combination of cultures, wildlife and people that inspire and inform my work. I love telling the narratives of life that anyone can relate to, and find myself drawing from history, mythology and fantasy in my illustrations. Crafting moments that convey authentic connections between characters is at the very heart of my work, and I often incorporate dramatic lighting to create engaging scenes that are packed with emotion.
After graduating with a BFA in Illustration and Animation from the University of Kansas, I have had the pleasure of working with several clients, including Crooked Media, Creative Consumer Concepts, and Beaver’s Pond Press. My work spans industries, including book illustrations, animation, and product design. In addition, I have worked with marketing teams as a graphic designer, where I have gained a thorough understanding of various design techniques and processes when working with both print and digital media. I am also a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.
When I am not working on projects, I enjoy running obsencely long distances and adding books to my already overflowing bookshelves.
